John Black serves as President of GDA Contractors, where he works alongside the leadership team to support the company’s business development, operations, safety and quality control, human resources, and long-term strategic growth. Since joining GDA in 2011, he has remained focused on building an organization known for exceptional service while investing in the people who make that service possible.
John began his construction career in 2006 and earned a Master of Science in Engineering with a concentration in Construction Management. Before joining GDA, he gained experience in both environmental remediation and general contracting, giving him a broad perspective on the construction industry. Promoted to President in 2026, John believes GDA’s greatest competitive advantage is its people. He is passionate about developing future leaders, strengthening GDA’s culture, and creating an environment where employees are empowered to grow, collaborate, and serve customers. John is also an active member of AGC/TEXO and FCIA.

What’s a hobby or interest you enjoy outside of work? I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children, coaching youth sports, and staying active through fitness.
